The Trail & District Arts Council presents iLumiDance by Rainbow Dance Theatre, a captivating dancing light show on Sunday, February 18 at 3:00 pm in The Bailey Theatre.
In this interactive performance, eight dancers from Rainbow Dance Theatre perform three pieces featuring electronic costumes, props, and puppets using light wire tech that enchants children and gets them excited about technology.Dancers and puppets are illuminated so that they appear to be immersed in an undersea world where creatures float, swim, and dance through the dark water. Or where gigantic colorful insects and butterflies fly around the dancers on the darkened stage.
The show is full of constant visual surprises and athletic virtuosic dancing to delight audiences young and adult alike. Rainbow Dance Theatre creates a world where you are transported into a reality where humans morph into animals, flowers grow to amazing proportions and defy gravity, and serpents and owls disembody and reassemble.
Utilizing electro-luminescent (EL) wire, fiber optic fabric, black light and other special effects, iLumiDance delights audiences with its magic and humor. A tour-de-force of virtuosic dancing and cutting-edge technology.

The other show in the series is Buzz Brass - The Pen of Perilous Pitfalls. A dynamic classical and jazz score tells the story of Alexandra, a young teenage girl who doesn’t appear to be of the stuff heroes are made of. Following an unusual start to her day, Alex is handed a magic pen that allows her to adventure in imaginary worlds. The story is told through music that carries you from Camelot’s Arthurian legends to Sherlock Holmes’ investigations, then transports you to a ship out of The Pirates of the Caribbean, before you board a spacecraft out of Star Wars and enter the fantastical worlds of Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and James Bond.
iLumiDance: Rainbow Dance Theatre is made possible thanks to funding from Teck Trail Operations, the BC Arts Council, BC Touring Council, the Government of Canada, and Tourism South Kootenay. We also gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
