Trail & District Arts Council & Kootenay Concert Connection present a highly entertaining musical potpourri for the holidays, blending traditional MacNeil family favourites, from Christmas ceilidhs to midnight masses, with the general festive frolic that accompanies each holiday season.

With their captivating vocals, distinctive harmonies and extraordinary musicianship, The Barra MacNeils inject new life and energy into the sights and sounds of Christmas. Fans can look forward to classic favourites including “O Holy Night”, “Ave Maria”, “Christmas in Killarney” and “Auld Lang Syne”, where a rousing chorus may be followed by a hauntingly beautiful Gaelic ballad, then a flurry of foot-stomping instrumentals accompanied by step-dancing revelry.

Based in Cape Breton, The Barra MacNeils have been thrilling audiences of all ages with their sparkling repertoire, vocals, instrumental prowess and vibrant showmanship for nearly three decades. This family group features Kyle (vocals, guitar, violin, mandolin), Lucy (vocals, bodhran, Celtic harp, fiddle, stepdancing), Sheumas (keyboards, piano, bodhran, fiddle, bouzouki, vocals), Stewart (vocals, accordion, tin whistle, flute, bouzouki, guitar, stepdancing), Boyd (mandolin, fiddle, guitar, banjo, percussion, stepdancing) and Jamie Gatti (bass).

The Barra MacNeils live concert experience brings so much more to the stage than most live acts ever can. Multiple lead vocalists, beautiful sibling harmonies, top drawer instrumental prowess on a wide variety of acoustic, stringed, percussion and wind instruments blended with dancing, storytelling, Gaelic songs and a journey through an ancient culture - family entertainment at its highest level.
